We encourage everyone to arrive 15 minutes earlier to accommodate seating. Our party is schedule to end at 2:00 AM. If you plan to stay past midnight, please use the parking lot located on Union Street between Second and Third Avenue (~$8.00). This lot opens till 2:00 AM. Otherwise you can use the Seattle Art Museum parking lot (~$7.00) which is closed at midnight. Parking facility is also available at the Four Seasons ($24).

Seattle Underground Tour_Pioneer Square downtown Seattle

This is a great tour that is entertaining, yet very informative about the history of Seattle. This was one of our very first dates! It wasn’t until I met Matt that I finally took the tour. It’s a lot of fun with the tour guides who are knowledgeable and quirky.

Wine Tasting_Woodinville, WA

While we may not have quite the reputation of Napa Valley for wine, there is some pretty great wine here in the Northwest. There are quite a few family run, small scale wineries, nestled along some bigger names in Woodinville, Washington. The best part is that it is a mere 30 minutes from downtown Seattle, so it makes for a great day or even half day. If you are interested in getting out of the city, especially if the weather cooperates, this is a great way to do it. Check out this site to get a list of wineries and their tasting hours. Larger wineries like Chateau St. Michelle has a tour of the winery itself, others just have tasting rooms.

Woodinville has other entertaining food and beverage options as well. There is a local brewery, Redhook, that also has a “tour,” so to speak…do bring your tolerance and a designated driver.

Tom Douglas Restaurants/Coconut Cream Pie_downtown Seattle

Tom Douglas is a celebrity chef in Seattle. He has several well-known restaurants. I recommend some of them, including:

Dahlia Lounge: Northwest food, great atmosphere. Definitely more of a special occasion restaurant. Also has a weekend brunch.

Etta’s: Right in Pike Place Market, has a great brunch on the weekend. Less formal feel than some of his other places.

Serious Pie: Great pizza place with high end pizza options. Don’t be fooled. Pizza ≠ cheap, but a very fun place for dinner.

Palace Kitchen: More Americana type food, with some Northwest influence. We would occasionally come here after working late, as they serve food until 1 am. Good atmosphere and good for dessert and drinks.

Dahlia Bakery: Bakery goods and pies.

If you like coconut cream pie, you MUST get it from one of the Tom Douglas restaurants or the bakery. It’s the best coconut cream pie I’ve ever had. AWESOME…

Despite an unauthentic sounding name, this place has a great happy hour and fresh fish. Lots of different Americanized rolls and sushi, along with cooked Japanese options. Most reasonably priced for happy hour, which they have daily from 4-6 pm as well as late night happy hour, usually starting at 11 pm.

Four Seasons Hotel_waterfront Seattle

This hotel is the location of the wedding. Best option if you plan on stumbling home. You can just stumble upstairs. They may even help you out.

Rates on Expedia have been cheaper than what we get as a room block rate, so check there first. The only good thing to the rate we get is that it is guaranteed until the wedding, so you’ll never have to pay more than this.

Rate is $275 a night and parking is extra if you rent a car.

downtown Seattle ► everywhere else

Walking is the preferred method of transport around Seattle, as parking is expensive in pay lots and hard to come by on the street.

Other recommended methods:
Link Light Rail: This goes through bus tunnel to the airport. We live in Columbia City, which is a short ride from downtown.

Monorail: Catch this at the top floor of Westlake Center to go to the Seattle Space Needle. This drops you off in the middle of Seattle Center, which has many theaters, the Pacific Science Center, and the Space Needle itself.

Cabs are also easy to hail from anywhere downtown.

Sea-Tac Airport ► downtown Seattle

The Sea-Tac Airport is now on the light rail line. It’s easy to just just on the light rail and it will take you directly into downtown Seattle Westlake Center, which is in easy walking distance (within 1-3 blocks) of most of the hotels that we have room blocks with. Just take the rail to the WESTLAKE station. It’s nearly impossible to mess up, since you’ll be going from one end of the line to the other end of the line and they make you get off at both ends. This makes it easy to come to Seattle without having to rent a car. Everything downtown is pretty much walkable or easy to get to by public transport or an occasional cab.

If you are staying at or trying to get to the Four Seasons, get off at the UNIVERSITY Street station. The hotel is two blocks away: one block north and one block west of the station. If in doubt, find the water and walk towards it. Once you get to First Avenue (which is parallel with the waterfront) turn to your right and the Four Seasons should be soon right next to you.
